SB kit

Install the kit

Download the kit

This downloads one file: SB.kit.v0.6.ZIP. It works on both Mac and Windows. If you end up with a second, differently-named zip in your Downloads folder, delete it — you only need the one above.

Before you start — check these four things

Takes about ten minutes and skips most of the snags people hit first.

Four steps, about an hour

  1. Unzip, then drag ROOT into your Google Drive. Unzip on your computer first, then drag the ROOT folder into the Google Drive location your computer shows you (Mac: "Google Drive" in Finder; Windows: usually G:\My Drive). Don't try to copy a folder inside the Google Drive website — it doesn't copy folders cleanly, and that's where most people get stuck.
  2. Open Claude, give it access to that folder. Open Cowork mode and connect the ROOT folder when asked.
  3. Paste the bootstrap prompt below. Claude takes it from there.
  4. First run. Claude checks your setup, then offers a choice: a ten-minute demo on sample data (watch it work before anything is yours), or building your real profile straight away (~15 minutes of honest questions) plus your first project in the same sitting.

The bootstrap prompt — copy everything in the box

I've received a Second Brain kit (a ROOT folder with kernel/, profile-templates/,
and skills/ inside it). It's in my Google Drive and I want you to set it up for me,
end to end.

1. Ask me to mount/select the ROOT folder if you can't see it yet.

2. FIRST — before installing anything — check the kit arrived in one piece.
Open ROOT and confirm it has exactly three folders inside: kernel/,
profile-templates/, and skills/ — each with its files — and that ROOT isn't
accidentally sitting inside another ROOT folder.
   - If it's all there: say "kit looks good" and continue.
   - If anything is loose, missing, or doubled up: STOP. Tell me in plain words
what's wrong and the ONE thing to fix it (usually: delete this from Drive,
unzip the kit again, then drag the ROOT folder in once — don't open it,
don't rename it). Don't go further until I've fixed it and you've re-checked.
   - If ROOT reads as EMPTY or can't be found at all: the most likely cause is
that Google Drive on this computer and Claude's Google Drive connector are
signed into DIFFERENT Google accounts. Say exactly that, in plain words,
and walk me through checking both emails (Drive icon on my computer, and
Claude Settings -> Connectors -> Google Drive) before trying anything else.
Don't treat this as a broken kit - it's almost always the account.

3. Read kernel/CLAUDE-KERNEL.md to understand the system.
4. Walk me through installing the .skill files from the skills/ folder
(Claude Settings → Capabilities) — one at a time, tell me exactly what to click.
5. Run the protocol in kernel/STRESS-TEST.md to verify my environment.
6. My profile is empty — run kernel/PROFILE-GENESIS.md. Start with why this
exists, then offer me the Demo (sample data) or Live (my real profile).
Plain language, no jargon, one thing at a time.
7. Finish by setting up my first real project (kernel/NEW-PROJECT.md) so I leave
   this session with something working.

If anything fails, use kernel/HELP-ME.md to troubleshoot it with me instead of
giving up. Treat me as smart but completely new to this system.

If something's not working

My ROOT folder looks wrong, or the demo misbehaves
The bootstrap prompt checks for this automatically before it installs anything — it looks for exactly three folders inside ROOT (kernel/, profile-templates/, skills/), not nested inside another ROOT and not loose files. If it flags a problem: delete ROOT from your Drive, unzip the kit again, and drag the ROOT folder in once — don't open it, don't rename it.
Claude can see my files but can't save anything
This usually means the folder got connected as read-only. Ask Claude to reconnect (re-grant) the folder, then try again — Claude will confirm the fix worked before continuing.
ROOT looks empty, or Claude can't find it
Almost always a mismatched Google account — Drive on your computer and Claude's Drive connector need to be signed into the same account. Check the email on your Drive icon against Claude → Settings → Connectors → Google Drive.

It worked?

Two small asks, only if it actually helped:
